Homemade Greek Yogurt Mint Sauce for Lamb | Greek Yogurt Recipes

The greeks got many things right and one of them is pairing homemade greek yogurt with meat. Obviously I am excited about making greek yogurt at home but I am also an avid griller and general lover of lamb. I too, like many, have planted mint in my yard, forgot about it and have seen it slowly take over. So I am excited to share with you this simple greek yogurt and mint sauce recipe that you can make and use as both a marinade and sauce for most any cut of lamb.

What you need to make Greek Yogurt Mint Sauce for Lamb:

1C Greek Yogurt
3 sprigs of fresh Mint when chopped should result in 2-3 Tbsp.
3 large cloves of garlic crushed
1 tsp of Extra virgin olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste.
Optional: 1-2 Tbsp of Whey depending on the consistency you like.

Combine the garlic, chopped mint, olive oil, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix together. Then add the greek yogurt and stir. If you would like your sauce a little more saucy then add back about 1-2 Tbsp of any extra whey you might have. If you are a champion and have used up all of your leftover whey you can easily substitute with water or milk. Once you have the consistency you like, let the sauce sit for as long as you can so that the greek yogurt absorbs the fresh mint and garlic flavors. Now you have a delicious, healthy, garlicky and fresh tasting sauce that compliments the gaminess of lamb perfectly. I suggest pairing it with a grilled lamb chop, leg or shoulder. For instructions on marinating your lamb read on.
