How to Make Savory Greek Yogurt Sauce and Dips

Tzatziki 

This crowd-pleasing recipe can be used as a dip or as a greek yogurt sauce. Tzatziki is a traditional dish in Greece that has been made for centuries. You can use it to top grilled meats or vegetables or just as a tasty dip. 

Here is our recipe for this classic Greek yogurt dish:

  • 1 1/2 cups of full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 large peeled and grated cucumber 
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice 
  • 1 grated garlic clove 
  • 3 tablespoons of chopped dill or mint or both
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

In a medium-sized bowl add all the ingredients except the olive oil together. Mix them thoroughly and allow the mix to chill in the refrigerator or serve immediately. Before serving, drizzle olive oil over the Tzatziki and serve.

Raita 

Raita is a traditional Indian condiment that is served alongside rice dishes like Biyriani or as a simple accompaniment for meats and vegetables. This beautiful yogurt-based sauce has many varieties.

Traditionally it is made with an Indian style yogurt called curd, but we love this variation using Greek yogurt!

The recipe is as follows:

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice 
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons each of cilantro and mint
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion 
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped and seeded tomato
  • 1 teaspoon cumin 
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander 
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all of the ingredients together and serve immediately or refrigerate for later use.

Avocado Ranch Dressing

Couple these two things and add the addition of tangy Greek yogurt and you have a recipe for success. Let’s take a look at how to make this zesty dressing!

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt 
  • 1 medium to large avocado 
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice 
  • 1 grated garlic clove
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley 
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill 
  • 2 tablespoons chives 
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

For this recipe, add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy! Use this recipe as a dip or dressing on your favorite veggies.

Creamy Chipotle Greek Yogurt Sauce

This spicy southwest style sauce is perfect for taco night or even a marinade. The best part…it only takes 3 ingredients! Here is the recipe:

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt 
  • 3-4 canned Chipotle peppers in Adobo
  • Juice of 1 medium lime 

To make this tasty sauce add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until totally smooth. Once blended, add to a squeeze bottle and drizzle overtop homemade tacos or use as a yummy dip for tortilla chips.

For use as a marinade add 1/4 cup of olive oil and mix together. Once the oil is mixed with the sauce you can coat your protein and marinate overnight for super tender meat!

Alabama White BBQ Sauce 

This unique BBQ sauce is a staple in the south, especially in its home state of Alabama. Traditionally, you will find BBQ sauces made with vinegar, ketchup, or mustard as a base. 

In Alabama, they do it their way! Alabama white sauce uses mayo as the base for their famous BBQ sauce. We have recreated this classic sauce using delicious Greek yogurt. 

The recipe is not only delicious but it is better for you than the original! Let’s take a look at how to make this unique sauce!

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil 
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish 
  • 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder 
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika 
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Whisk all of the ingredients together until thoroughly blended. Use the sauce as a dip or drizzle over your favorite grilled meats or vegetables.

Creamy Roasted Garlic Balsamic Dip 

This dip is a super simple yet flavorful way to utilize greek yogurt. Most everyone has the ingredients in their pantry so there is no need for a trip to the store! The recipe is as follows:

  • 3 cups Greek yogurt
  • 1 whole bulb of garlic
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning 
  • Salt and pepper to taste 

The hardest part about this recipe is patience! For the bulb of garlic, you will need to cut the top 1/4 inch off of the bulb. Then lightly drizzle olive oil over the bulb and wrap it in aluminum foil. 

Roast the garlic in the oven for 45 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove the bulb and allow it to cool.

While it is cooling, mix yogurt, herbs, and balsamic vinegar together. Then add the cooled garlic cloves to the mix and stir thoroughly. Add salt and pepper as needed to taste and enjoy!
